ANDRÉ (Italy) 80s, Handwoven, Strobel-Lasted, Crescent Penny Strap SUNDAZED & OUTSIDE SOCIETY S.O.S. | sundazed.io/sos ...Hand-interlaced leather vamp and crescent-cut strap evoke folk craft and collegiate codes in a slip-on designed for warm-climate ease. The woven penny loafer from ANDRÉ exemplifies a tactically composed footwear model that bridges Mediterranean summer utility with American preppy formality, emerging as a stylistic convergence of Ivy League iconography and regional craftwork. As a French-origin brand historically embedded in the mid-market segment of European leather goods, ANDRÉ operates through a network of outsourced manufacturing, primarily in Italy, Portugal, and Eastern Europe. Its design philosophy favors wearable comfort, visible materiality, and structural minimalism—qualities embodied in this moccasin-inspired slip-on whose primary visual anchor is a handwoven leather upper interlaced with saddle construction and a crescent-cutout strap, marrying East Coast collegiate codes with Southern European breathability. This model situates itself within a tradition of postwar European ready-to-wear democratization, participating in the continental shift toward accessible leather footwear during the second half of the 20th century.
